Elara ("Elara", "we", "our", or "us") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard information when you use Elara's website, applications, and services (collectively, the "Service").

By using Elara, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

2. Information We Collect

a. Information You Provide

When you sign in or use Elara, we may collect:

• Name
• Email address
• Profile picture (if provided via authentication)
• Clothing and wardrobe data you upload
• Preferences such as style, occasions, and usage settings

b. Information from Google Integration

If you sign in using Google, we receive:

• Your name
• Email address
• Profile photo

If you choose to connect your Google Calendar, we will request permission to access your calendar event data. This information is used strictly to generate personalized Daily Picks and weather-aware outfit recommendations based on your schedule. We do not access your contacts, emails, or any other Google data.

• The use of raw or derived user data received from Google Workspace APIs (including Google Calendar) will adhere to the Google User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Elara does not use this data to create, train, or improve foundational or generalized AI/ML models. Calendar data is used only to provide personalized styling features (such as Daily Picks) for the signed-in user.

c. Automatically Collected Information

We may collect limited technical information such as:

• Device type
• Browser type
• Usage activity within the app
• Log and diagnostic data

This helps us improve performance and reliability.

d. Photos, Camera, and Face Data Policy

Elara does not collect, capture, scan, or store biometric face data, facial recognition markers, facial geometry, or TrueDepth camera data.

When you voluntarily take or upload photos (such as pictures of clothing, outfits, or a user picture/portrait) within the app:

• Collection & Purpose: Uploaded pictures are used exclusively to provide personal styling features, such as garment extraction, personalized color palette recommendations, and virtual outfit visualization/try-on. No facial biometric identifiers or face templates are extracted, recorded, or used for identification.
• Storage & Security: User-uploaded photos are encrypted in transit (TLS/HTTPS) and securely stored in encrypted cloud storage using industry-standard infrastructure (Google Cloud and Firebase).
• Third-Party Sharing: We do not sell, license, or share user photos with third-party data brokers or advertising networks. Photos may be securely processed through trusted enterprise AI processing providers (such as OpenAI and Anthropic) strictly for the purpose of styling and image analysis in accordance with strict confidentiality agreements. These third parties are contractually prohibited from using your photos to train public models or for any purpose other than fulfilling Elara's styling requests.
• Retention & Deletion: Photos are retained only for as long as your account remains active or until you delete them. You can delete individual photos or items directly within the app at any time, or permanently delete your account and all associated photos and data via the app settings or by contacting [email protected]. Upon account deletion, all user photos and associated data are permanently and irreversibly purged from our servers within 30 days.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

• Create and manage your account
• Provide personalized outfit recommendations
• Generate personalized Daily Picks using your Google Calendar event schedule (if connected)
• Improve Elara's AI models and user experience
• Communicate important updates and service messages
• Maintain security and prevent misuse

We do not sell your personal data.

4. Data Sharing

We only share data when necessary:

• With trusted service providers (e.g., hosting, analytics, authentication)
• To comply with legal obligations
• To protect Elara's rights, users, or safety

All partners are contractually obligated to protect your data.

We share the following data with third-party AI providers

To power core app features:

• OpenAI (openai.com)
  • Data shared: wardrobe images, style preferences, chat messages, outfit context, and Google Calendar event context (if connected)
  • Purpose: outfit recommendations, style suggestions, and personalized Daily Picks

• Anthropic (anthropic.com)
  • Data shared: style preferences, chat messages, outfit analysis context, and Google Calendar event context (if connected)
  • Purpose: conversational styling, outfit analysis, and personalized Daily Picks
  • Their privacy policy: anthropic.com/privacy

Both providers are contractually bound to equivalent data protection standards. Data is processed in transit and not used to train their models without consent.

5. Data Storage & Security

Your data is securely stored using industry-standard cloud infrastructure and security practices. While no system is 100% secure, we take reasonable steps to protect your information from unauthorized access.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access your data
• Update or correct your information
• Request deletion of your account and associated data

Elara is not intended for users under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
